[EN]Kateryna Pokladova is an illustrator and visual artist born in Luhansk and based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Currently, she works as an editorial illustrator for printed and digital publications, as well as for social media campaigns. Previously, she studied Art History at the National Academy of Architecture and Fine arts in Kyiv, Ukraine. Her practice revolves around investigating surroundings and habitats, capturing forms and colors.

[IT]Kateryna Pokladova è un'illustratrice e artista visiva nata a Luhansk e residente a Kiev, in Ucraina. Attualmente lavora come illustratrice editoriale per pubblicazioni cartacee e digitali, nonché per campagne sui social media. In precedenza, ha studiato storia dell'arte presso l'Accademia nazionale di architettura e belle arti di Kiev, in Ucraina. La sua pratica ruota attorno allo studio di ambienti e habitat, catturando forme e colori.

[EN]This work tells the story of resilience in the darkest times. It is a courageous attempt of the artist to reflect on everything that has happened and that she and her friends have personally been through since Russia started its full-scale invasion of Ukraine precisely a year ago (24th of February 2022).

The war is still ongoing.

The video is a collection of interviews that the artist conducted with friends during the first two weeks of January 2023 at the interviewees’ apartments in Kyiv. All people except one are still in Kyiv today.

The coloring book is connected to the video and shows how some things have become more valuable or changed their meaning since the beginning of the war.
