On Thursday, January 26 at 7pm CET the Berlin-based, research-driven design and art studio Nonhuman Nonsense will be at Fabrica for an open lecture.
The team, made of Leo Fidjeland, Linnea Våglund and Filips Staņislavskis, creates near-future fabulations and experiments somewhere between utopia and dystopia. They seek to transmute our relationship to the non-human, by embracing the contradictory and the paradoxical – telling stories that open the public imaginary to futures that currently seem impossible.
Linnea and Filips will talk about their design practice through the projects “Pink Chicken Project”, “Planetary Personhood” and “Mud & Flood ~ the Return of Nehalennia”. They will tell of their intentions, way of working with scientists/legal concepts/mythology and the reverberations of their work.
Their work has been presented at the United Nations, in negotiations on the Convention on Biological Diversity. It has been shown at the MIT Museum, Triennale Milano, MU Hybrid Art House, Beijing Design Festival, and ArkDes, among others.
They are graduates of Central Saint Martins and Design Academy Eindhoven.
